StoryGold is training a foundation model that understands and generates the 3D world through parametric CAD. Existing AI produces static meshes and pictures of objects. We generate the object itself — fully editable, constraint-aware, production-ready CAD.
Why parametric CAD
Meshes are dead geometry: millions of triangles with no dimensions, no constraints, no intent. Parametric CAD is the native language of engineering — a compact program of sketches and features that carries the reasoning behind a design. A model that speaks it preserves exactly what downstream editing, simulation, and manufacturing depend on.
The dataset
We are building the world's largest parametric CAD dataset — terabytes of feature trees, constraints, and paired natural-language descriptions. Data, not architecture, is the bottleneck for 3D reasoning, and it is the moat.
Why now
Vision-language models finally provide a base with enough visual grounding to build on — but as our experiments show, 3D capability has to be trained in at scale, not prompted or adapted in. The base models exist; the dataset does not; we are building it.
The team
Before StoryGold, Jennifer built large-scale deep learning models at Waymo to navigate the real world, alongside colleagues from Google Research working on large-scale 3D perception. It's clear to us that 3D reasoning is required to truly build general intelligence.
